Time management and trading

Time management and trading

Recently, I feel my time management is not good at all. So I got several books (such as Time Management from the Inside Out, second edition: The Foolproof System for Taking Control of Your Schedule--and Your Life)  to read, and want to find some wisdom and helpful insights.

It is also helpful for trading because only two resources for a trader:
1. Investment money
2. Investment time

Life is time, and time is money.

When you are correct with the market trend, sit tight and the time will work for you, not only your money. That's where the compounded profits/losses comes from. The time value.

Some useful points that I have kept:
  • Your habbit will determine your future
  • Goal setting
  • time log for each major goal
  • clear-cut goals
  • allow one planning hour per day
  • avoid incompletion because every time the warm up time will be a waste
  • delegate routine work
  • to do list every day
  • realistic, know the limitations
  • don't over schedule
  • allow time cushion
  • review list every day
  • time log
  • draw action plan
  • read one hour per day
Finally, the most important, for traders, is to be able to control the emotion. Otherwise, the time will be wasted by emotional motions. In order to control the emotion well, we need to set up trading goals (both profits and losses) for each trade, know what we are doing, know the time zone for actions.
